PLAYERS TO WATCH

–QB Sam Hartman passed for only 227 yards at Florida State after managing only 74 against Clemson. He’s getting plenty of experience in his first go-around as a college player, but the freshman’s production has waned since the first couple of weeks.

–WR Greg Dortch was held to four catches for 24 yards in the loss at Florida State. The redshirt sophomore had a sterling outing last year vs. Louisville with four touchdown catches, but an abdominal injury in that game also resulted in the end of his season. Dortch has 105 career catches in 15 games.

–RB Matt Colburn is a senior who was left hanging during recruiting when Louisville pulled an offer. So he’s bound to be extra fired up for his last meeting with the Cardinals. He’s coming off a 71-yard rushing outing on 21 carries at Florida State.

–LB Justin Strnad has emerged as one of the leaders on the team and that role could be particularly important as the team endures some struggles. He shared the team-high mark with 12 tackles against Florida State. He’s averaging 6.6 tackles per game.

SERIES HISTORY: Louisville leads Wake Forest 4-1, though Wake Forest won 42-32 last year at home.

QUOTE TO NOTE: “Whenever the snap seems important, it’s hard to think of a play you don’t want him out there.” — coach Dave Clawson on WR Greg Dortch, who came off an injury to play against Florida State last week. Last year against Louisville, he caught four touchdown passes.
