Former Georgia and Miami coach Mark Richt says he will be back at work this week as an analyst for the ACC Network after suffering a heart attack Monday morning.

“I am assuming word travels fast,” the 59-year-old wrote in a tweet. “I wanted to be able to inform everyone that I did have a heart attack this morning. I am doing fine. As I went through the experience I had peace knowing I was going to heaven but I was going to miss my wife. I plan to be at work this week.”

Richt, who surprisingly stepped down as Miami’s coach after going 7-6 last season with the Hurricanes, has said he has no intention of returning to coaching.

Richt spent 15 seasons at Georgia (2001-2015), posting a 145-51 record that included six Top 10 finishes in the final AP poll. He was 26-13 in three seasons at Miami and was under contract through the 2023 season when he resigned.
