Former Ohio State wide receiver Jaelen Gill is transferring to Boston College, where former Buckeyes co-defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley is the new head coach.

Barring a waiver from the NCAA, Gill will have to sit out the 2020 season and will have two years of eligibility remaining starting in 2021.

He made the announcement Tuesday on Twitter.

A four-star recruit in the Class of 2018, Gill was unable to crack the Buckeyes’ rotation during his two years in Columbus.

He played in six games as a redshirt freshman in 2019, catching six passes for 51 yards and a touchdown.

Gill was ranked as the No. 30 overall prospect in his recruiting class by both ESPN and the 247Sports composite. He was rated the No. 2 all-purpose back and the No. 2 recruit in Ohio by 247Sports.

Hafley landed the job at Boston College in December, replacing Steve Addazio who was fired after going 44-44 in seven seasons with the Eagles.
