Alabama offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian pulled his name from consideration for Colorado’s head-coaching position on Thursday, ESPN reported.

Sarkisian interviewed for the post on Wednesday, according to multiple reports.

Sarkisian, 45, has been a head coach at Washington (2009-13) and Southern California (2014-15). He is heading into his second season as the Crimson Tide’s offensive coordinator.

Other candidates linked to the opening, created when Mel Tucker left earlier this month to coach at Michigan State, include Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator and former Buffaloes running back Eric Bieniemy, Air Force coach Troy Calhoun, and former Arkansas and Wisconsin coach Bret Bielema.

Sarkisian has previous Pac-12 experience, but his tenure with the Trojans did not end well.

He was fired by then-USC athletic director Pat Haden in October 2015 after numerous incidents in which the Trojans coach was believed to be intoxicated in front of players and/or the public. In one incident, Sarkisian was caught on video using a profanity and slurring his speech at a pep rally.

Sarkisian compiled a 34-29 record and made three bowl appearances with the Huskies. He was 12-6 and reached one bowl game with the Trojans.
