Three days after his father, strength coach Chris Doyle, left the Iowa program amid allegations of player abuse, linebacker Dillon Doyle announced Thursday that he is leaving the Hawkeyes and transferring to Baylor.

The younger Doyle tweeted, “I’m EXCITED to announce my decision to attend and compete for BAYLOR UNIVERSITY. … Baylor provides a SPECIAL situation to be part of a CULTURE with world-class PEOPLE and COACHES every day, and I CAN’T WAIT to get started. Sic ‘Em!”

Dillon Doyle has three years of college eligibility remaining.

Last season, as a redshirt freshman, he recorded 23 tackles in 13 games for Iowa. He appeared in four games as a reserve in 2018 before redshirting.

According to 247Sports, Dillon Doyle also considered Texas, Boston College and Wisconsin before deciding to transfer to Baylor.

His father reached an agreement with Iowa on Monday to leave after 21 years in charge of the Hawkeyes’ strength and conditioning program.

Earlier in the month, the university placed him on paid leave amid allegations of mistreatment by former players, most of them black players.

Multiple media outlets reported that Doyle was college football’s highest-paid strength coach at $800,000 per year. His departure deal with Iowa reportedly will see him receive more than $1.1 million plus benefits for him and his family for 15 months or until he finds a new job.
