Southern California introduced Mike Bohn as its new athletic director Thursday, filling the vacancy left by Lynn Swann’s resignation in September.

Bohn, 58, brings 22 years of experience as an athletic director to the Trojans, including tenures with Cincinnati (2014-19), Colorado (2015-13), San Diego State (2003-05) and Idaho (1998-2003).

One of the most pressing issues facing Bohn is the fate of head football coach Clay Helton. USC is 5-4 overall and 4-2 in the Pac-12 entering Saturday’s game at Arizona State. The Trojans were 5-7 in 2018.

According to Sports Illustrated, Bohn reached a tentative deal with Southern Cal last week but did not sign off until he was assured that the school had the funds to pursue former Ohio State coach Urban Meyer.

Bohn hired Luke Fickell, who was on Meyer’s staff with the Buckeyes, as the head coach at Cincinnati before the 2017 season. The Bearcats went 11-2 last season and won the Military Bowl. They are ranked No. 20 this season with a 7-1 record.

Meyer, a three-time national champion at Florida (2006, 2008) and Ohio State (2014), retired at the end of last season.
