Seventh-ranked Cincinnati proved why it’s worthy of being a Top-10 team after the Bearcats dismantled AAC foe Memphis 49-10 to improve to 5-0 on the season.

For its impressive victory, Cincinnati is the Lindy’s Team of the Week.

The Bearcats used a balanced attack on offense (271 passing, 242 rushing) and another strong defensive performance (5 rushing yards, 321 total yards, six sacks) to keep the Tigers (3-2) in check.

Junior quarterback Desmond Ridder accounted for five total touchdowns to pace the Cincy offense. He completed 21 of 26 passes for 271 yards and three touchdowns — with one interception — through the air and accounted for 41 yards and two scores on the ground.

Redshirt freshman Jerome Ford, a former Alabama signee, had his first 100-yard game as a collegiate player. The 5-foot-11, 215-pound tailback had nine carries for 116 yards and two touchdowns. Senior Gerrid Doaks added 77 yards on 18 carries.

Junior wideouts Alec Pierce and Michael Young and sophomore receiver Tre Tucker each had scoring receptions. Pierce led the Bearcats with 61 yards receiving. Young led the team with five receptions.

Defensively, Cincinnati was led by junior defensive end Myjai Sanders. Sanders had a team-high six tackles, including 2.5 for loss, and 1.5 sacks. Senior safety James Wiggins had four tackles, a sack and a pass defended.

The matchup was a rematch of last year’s AAC Championship Game, which was won 29-24 by Memphis.
