GAME BREAKDOWN

KEY MATCHUP: The Kansas offense has had an up-and-down year, but the Jayhawks defense has a lot of teeth. The Jayhawks are plus-16 in turnover margin. Ordinarily that would pose trouble for a true freshman quarterback, but Brock Purdy has done a nice job being aggressive when the opportunities arise and not forcing things when the coverage is tight. If he can keep the Cyclones offense running smoothly, Iowa State should be able to move the ball and put up points, because the Jayhawks defense isn’t a true shutdown unit. But any mistakes will prove costly.

DRAFT SLANT

–RB David Montgomery continues to rise up the Iowa State record charts, entering the week 11th on the Iowa State all-time rushing list. He’s on a streak of four consecutive 100-yard games, and had a pair of touchdowns against Texas Tech.

ROSTER REPORT:

–QB Zeb Noland has decided to transfer. He was not at last week’s victory over Texas Tech.

–QB Kyle Kempt is still getting back into form after his early-season knee injury. Given the success of Brock Purdy, he will all but certainly finish his ISU career as a backup barring injury.

–DE Eyioma Uwzurike is battling an injured hamstring. There’s no indication of when he may be ready to return.
