GAME BREAKDOWN

KEY MATCHUP: West Virginia fans might be licking its chops at the thought of facing a defense that just gave up 42 points to Oklahoma State, but the Mountaineers may not want to celebrate so soon. Iowa managed to be disruptive all game long, with two turnovers, seven sacks and 16.5 tackles for loss. West Virginia hasn’t been great at protecting Will Grier, and the interior of its offensive line has been a disaster all season. The Cyclones can go a long way towards winning this game if they can continue their habit of spending a lot of time in the opposing backfield.

DRAFT SLANT

–DB Brian Peavy is undersized and has a lot to do if he wants to draw attention at the next level. But picking up his first career sack last Saturday against Oklahoma State sure won’t hurt.
ROSTER REPORT:

–RB David Montgomery is day-to-day with an upper arm injury and was on the sidelines for the Oklahoma State game. His status for West Virginia will be determined later in the week.

–QB Kyle Kempt is back at practice but was described by the coaching staff as doubtful for Saturday. If he is declared ready for the West Virginia game, there’s a chance he could resume his position as the starter.

— RK/KR Kene Nwangwu got 10 carries last week in David Montgomery’s absence. The playmaker on special teams could continue to see action in the backfield as a change of pace even when Montgomery returns.
