GAME BREAKDOWN

KEY MATCHUP: Oklahoma QB Kyle Murray has been a dynamic force the Big 12 has had trouble stopping and the matchup will be no different for Kansas. His 367.8-yard average for total offense leads the conference and reflects both an accurate arm as well as the ability to scramble. The susceptibility to give up big plays on pass defense could be especially troubling for the Jayhawks, who do not have enough explosiveness on offense to get into a scoring derby with the Sooners.

DRAFT SLANT

–LB Joe Dineen intended to improve his NFL Draft stock by staying for his senior season at Kansas, though the hometown (Lawrence) product really had little choice. Both the range of Dineen and his fundamentally solid tackling form should convince an NFL team to give him a look, though his position in the draft could still be determined by results from performance testing prior to the draft.

ROSTER REPORT

–Athletic director Jeff Long was confirmed to have made flights to Dallas and Phoenix, presumably for the coaching search he is conducting. Les Miles has been the most attractive potential candidate to surface. A report the Jayhawks were interested in former Maryland coach D.J. Durkin were quickly dismissed.

–QB Miles Kendrick missed his sixth straight game but was on the sideline for the Jayhawks’ loss at Kansas State. The sophomore backup suffered a shoulder injury in September and Kansas coach David Beaty has indicated Kendrick will probably be targeted for a redshirt.

–WR Kerr Johnson returned off an undisclosed injury for the Jayhawks against Kansas State and caught three passes for 22 yards.

–WR Daylon Charlot, who received considerable acclaim after transferring from Alabama but has not contributed at a high rate the past two seasons, also caught three passes against Kansas State.
