With two simple words, blue-chip 2022 running back Gavin Sawchuk announced his commitment to Oklahoma on Tuesday.

“Boomer Sooner,” he posted on Twitter.

His father, Kevin, confirmed his son’s commitment to 247Sports.

“The family environment that they have there fits what we do,” Kevin Sawchuk said. “We go by some pillars with his coach now, faith, family, education, football and that fits our family pillars, faith and family. I feel like Oklahoma is the same way where some of these other schools it’s all football.”

The younger Sawchuk is ranked as the No. 2 running back in the incoming senior class by the 247Sports composite. He plays for Valor Christian High School in Colorado, which produced Caronlina Panthers All-Pro running back Christian McCaffrey.

Sawchuk visited the Oklahoma campus in Norman over the weekend, following official visits to Ohio State and Southern California. In all, he had offers from more than two dozen schools, which also included Alabama, Notre Dame, Michigan and Stanford.

With Sawchuk’s commitment, Oklahoma moves to No. 5 on the 247Sports ranking of recruiting classes, trailing Ohio State, Notre Dame, LSU and Georgia.
