Oklahoma kicker Calum Sutherland is off the team.

A university spokesperson confirmed to The Oklahoman on Friday that Sutherland was removed from the roster. He had been suspended since his arrest on a public intoxication charge on Sept. 21 — the same day his ex-girlfriend accused him of physically assaulting her at an off-campus apartment complex.

He is under investigation by Oklahoma’s Title IX office in connection with the woman’s allegations. She said he hit and choked her with his belt, then stalked her on campus.

Sutherland started the first three games for the Sooners, making 2 of 4 field goal attempts with a long of 32 yards. Redshirt freshman Gabe Brkic has taken over, hitting all 10 of his attempts.

Sooners coach Lincoln Riley hasn’t commented on the situation since Sutherland’s dismissal but he said this after the kicker’s arrest:

“I’m disappointed by it,” Riley said. “There will be consequences. I’m never one to air out dirty laundry in front of everybody, so I’m not going to go into what that is going to be. But it’ll be handled in an appropriate manner.”

No. 9 Oklahoma (7-1, 4-1 Big 12) hosts Iowa State (5-3, 3-2) on Saturday night.
