PLAYERS TO WATCH

–CB Tre Brown didn’t play at all against Army but has played a bigger and bigger role in the last two games. With the defensive coordinator change, Brown figures to be among those whose roles could expand. He has four pass breakups, only one behind team leader Parnell Motley, despite playing much fewer snaps. Brown, Motley and Tre Norwood have all split time at corner this season.

–QB Kyler Murray has thrown at least three touchdown passes in each of the last five games. He’s one of only six FBS quarterbacks averaging 200 or more passing yards and 50 or more rushing yards. Murray’s 294.0 passing average is the best of that group by far, as are his 21 touchdown passes.

–LB Kenneth Murray leads the Sooners with 55 tackles, two ahead of fellow linebacker Curtis Bolton. With four tackles Saturday, Murray would tie his total from all of last season when he started every game as a freshman. Murray is putting up the huge numbers despite being held without a tackle in the season opener.

–RB Kennedy Brooks, who was fifth on the depth chart entering the season, has come on strong of late. Brooks has 15 carries for 195 yards and three touchdowns, carving out a niche behind starter Trey Sermon since Rodney Anderson went down with a season-ending injury.

SERIES HISTORY: Oklahoma leads 13-5, including 6-1 since TCU joined the Big 12. The Sooners won 41-17 last season in the Big 12 Championship Game and have won four consecutive games overall in the series.

QUOTE TO NOTE: “As an offense, we’re really explosive and we know it. But at times I think we kind of just waste a couple drives here and there in the game. We kind of lose focus, I guess, a couple penalties here and there. We kind of set ourselves back. But I think we can be as good as we want. I think going forward everybody knows what’s at stake. For us to put it together we’ve all got to be locked in and focused.” — Oklahoma QB Kyler Murray, on Oklahoma’s offense through the first part of the season.
