Oklahoma tailback Kennedy Brooks, who was barred from team activities this summer amid a female student’s accusation of violent behavior, was cleared Tuesday of any Title IX violations and is expected back with the team Wednesday, according to The Athletic.
The student made a report to the school but not to police, The Athletic’s Jason Kersey reported.
Part of the federal Title IX statute requires that any claim of sexual harassment, discrimination, misconduct and assault must be reported by university staff and investigated by the school Title IX coordinator’s office. Title IX prohibits gender discrimination.
The Athletic also reported that Brooks, a Dallas-area native, worked out at a Norman, Okla., high school while his Title IX case was pending.
Coming off a big freshman season, when he rushed for a team-leading 1,056 yards and 12 touchdowns, Brooks was on the All-Big 12 preseason team named Tuesday. He also was fourth in the nation with 8.87 yards per carry.
The Sooners made it to the national semifinals before losing to Alabama 45-34 on Dec. 29.
