Two years ago, Drake Stoops was a freshman walk-on wide receiver at Oklahoma.
On Saturday, his 25-yard touchdown reception from quarterback Spencer Rattler proved to be the game winner as the Sooners defeated arch-rival Texas in Dallas, 53-45, in four overtimes.
Stoops caught only two passes in the game, but he made them count. Rattler completed 23 passes, including three for scores, plus a two-point conversion, but none was bigger than the touchdown to Stoops. The 5-foot-9 sophomore is the son of former Oklahoma head coach Bob Stoops.
