TCU senior kicker Cole Bunce could miss the 2019 season, the result of injuries he suffered when he was hit by car earlier in the week.

“We might have lost Cole Bunce for the season,” head coach Gary Patterson told reporters on Saturday. “On his way over on the morning we were checking in he got hit by a car on his scooter. He had to have an emergency operation — I can’t tell you what — but I don’t think he is going to be able to play the rest of the year.”

Bunce was the kickoff specialist last season and was 4-of-9 on field goals and made all 12 extra points.

Bunce was driving his scooter on Thursday when a car turning left ran into him and knocked him off, according to a police report obtained by ESPN. Bunce had the right of way, and the driver was cited with failure to yield.

In line to take over the kicking duties are senior Jonathan Song, who hit nine of 12 field goals last season, or freshman Griffin Kell, a walk-on.
