Darius Anderson, TCU’s leading rusher, might miss the remainder of the season with a right foot injury, according to coach Gary Patterson.

Anderson was injured in the second quarter of Saturday’s 38-20 loss at Oklahoma. The sophomore left the field favoring his right leg while being helped to the sidelines by trainers.

Anderson had 42 yards on seven carries before leaving the game.

“I don’t know if he’ll play, probably the rest of the season,” Patterson told reporters after the loss, which dropped TCU to 11th in this week’s AP poll.

Anderson has rushed for 768 yards and eight touchdowns on 128 carries.

His best game of the season was Sept. 23 at Oklahoma State when Anderson rushed for three touchdowns on 160 yards.

“That’s tough, the way he’s been running the ball this year, big part of our offense,” Horned Frogs quarterback Kenny Hill said. “He can go the distance any time he gets it.”

Without Anderson for the remaining regular season games against Texas Tech and Baylor, TCU will utilize Kyle Hicks and Sewo Olonilua in its backfield. Hicks has 473 yards and three rushing TDs while Olonilua has 171 yards and six TDs.

“Big loss, but like I told them, ‘Who’s the next guy?'” Patterson said. “If you were the guy complaining because you weren’t getting enough carries, well guess what. Now it’s your turn, and you didn’t look that good, so somebody better step up.”
