PLAYERS TO WATCH

–WR Antoine Wesley moved up to second in the nation in receiving yards after catching 12 passes for 199 yards against Oklahoma. If he can help the Red Raiders notch a couple more wins this season, he could be a frontrunner for the Biletnikoff Award.

–QB Jett Duffey stepped in full-time for the injured Alan Bowman in the third quarter against Oklahoma. Duffey finished with 139 passing yards, 47 rushing yards and three total TDs. It seems very likely he’ll be the starter against Texas and the Red Raiders will need him to produce to defeat the Longhorns.

–LB Riko Jeffers has been a mainstay in Texas Tech’s linebacker rotation all season and he’s been productive. Jeffers has 43 total tackles, including 5.5 TFLs. The Red Raiders need him to find an even higher level down the stretch.

–S Jah’Shawn Johnson led Texas Tech with six solo tackles against Oklahoma. With LB Dakota Allen likely out with a knee injury, it will be up to Johnson to provide senior leadership for the Red Raiders versus Texas.

SERIES HISTORY: Texas leads Texas Tech 50-17. The Red Raiders claimed a 27-23 victory over the Longhorns in Austin last November. Neither team has won on its home field since the Longhorns defeated the Red Raiders 41-16 in Austin in 2013.

QUOTE TO NOTE: “If you’ve got it, you got it and if you don’t, work your magic and I think you’ve seen some of that at times. If we can get (quarterback Jett Duffey) so comfortable, to where he’s playing and not thinking so much, that’s when he’s going to take that next step.” — Kliff Kingsbury on QB Jett Duffey getting acclimated to playing the position at the college level.
