Texas sophomore cornerback B.J. Foster could be sidelined several weeks with a “pretty significant hamstring injury,” coach Tom Herman announced Monday.

Foster sustained the injury in the late stages of Saturday’s 45-38 loss to LSU.

Herman said sophomore DeMarvion Overshown would likely fill Foster’s shoes. Overshown had a sack in the season opener against Louisiana Tech and played nine games as a freshman in 2018.

Junior Josh Thompson also has a chance to see more playing time in the absence of Foster, who recorded 45 tackles, an interception and two forced fumbles last season.

No. 12 Texas (1-1) visits Rice in Houston on Saturday before opening Big 12 play by hosting Oklahoma State on Sept. 21.
