MADISON, Wis. — Nigel Hayes scored six of his game-high 31 points in overtime as Wisconsin halted No. 19 Indiana’s seven-game winning streak with a 82-79 victory Tuesday at the Kohl Center.

Hayes shot 7 for 12 from the field — and was 17 for 22 from the free-throw line — for the Badgers (12-9, 4-4), who have won three straight.

Yogi Ferrell scored 30 points and grabbed seven rebounds for the Hoosiers (17-4, 6-1), who lost their 14th straight game in Madison.

Redshirt freshman Ethan Happ contributed 25 points on 10-for-15 shooting and had a game-high eight rebounds for Wisconsin.

Jordan Hill, who came off the bench for the Badgers, added a career-high 15 points, including critical 3-point buckets in the second half.

Ferrell drilled a go-ahead 3-pointer with 1 minute, 13 seconds left to give Indiana a 69-67 lead, but Hayes tied the game twice in the final 45 seconds of regulation.

No. 7 Xavier 75, No. 10 Providence 68

PROVIDENCE, R.I. –Jalen Reynolds had 15 points and 11 rebounds and Trevon Bluiett scored 15 to help the Musketeers fend off a second-half surge from the Friars.

Reynolds and Bluiett were a combined 13 of 20 as Xavier (18-2, 6-2 Big East) shot 55.6 percent in the second half and finished at 50.8 percent for the game.

Myles Davis had 13 points and seven assists, James Farr added 11 points and eight boards, and J.P Macura scored 10 off the bench for the Musketeers, who won their second straight.

Ben Bentil had a game-high 25 points and pulled down six rebounds while Kris Dunn added 16 points, eight boards, seven assists and seven steals as Providence (17-4, 5-3) fell back to earth following Sunday’s 82-76 overtime upset of No. 6 Villanova.

No. 11 Virginia 72, Wake Forest 71

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Darius Thompson hit a banked-in 3-pointer at the buzzer to complete a rally from 13 points down as the Cavaliers escaped with a victory at Joel Coliseum.

Virginia hurried the ball down the court and Thompson launched the shot from the left side. A video review confirmed the shot was good.

Malcolm Brogdon hit a 3-pointer with 4.5 seconds to play to make it 70-69 and tied a career high with 28 points for the Cavaliers (16-4, 5-3 ACC), who improved to 1-4 in conference road games. Anthony Gill scored 17 points before fouling out in the final minute.

Freshman Bryant Crawford racked up 22 points and Devin Thomas returned from an in-game ankle injury to finish with 19 points for the Demon Deacons (10-10, 1-7), who lost their fifth game in a row.

No. 1 Oklahoma 91, Texas Tech 67

NORMAN, Okla. — Buddy Hield scored a game-high 30 points and the Sooners overpowered the Red Raiders at Lloyd Noble Center.

It was Hield’s seventh 30-plus point scoring performance of his senior season.

Oklahoma’s three starting guards — Hield, Jordan Woodard (19 points) and Isaiah Cousins (15) — combined to score 64 points and recorded 50 or more for the third consecutive game.

The Sooners (17-2, 6-2 Big 12) won their 17th consecutive home contest.

Justin Gray led Texas Tech (12-7, 2-6) with 20 points.

No. 9 West Virginia 70, Kansas State 55

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Jonathan Holton recorded 14 points and 11 rebounds as the Mountaineers remained tied atop the Big 12 with their fifth straight victory over the Wildcats.

Sixth man Jaysean Paige shot 3 for 12 from the floor but scored 12 points for West Virginia (17-3, 6-2 Big 12), which overcame 18 turnovers to keep pace with Oklahoma for the conference lead. Forward Nathan Adrian scored a season-high 10.

Justin Edwards (11 points) was the only double-digit scorer for Kansas State (12-8, 2-6), which committed 19 turnovers and shot 35.1 percent overall. Kamau Stokes made a 3-pointer in the opening two minutes, but the Wildcats didn’t sink another, finishing 1 for 18 from deep in its lowest-scoring output of the season
