Indiana indefinitely suspended tight end Peyton Hendershot after his arrest on multiple charges.

The university announced the suspension on Monday evening and said Hoosiers coach Tom Allen “will continue to evaluate the situation pending further developments.”

According to information obtained by the Bloomington Herald-Times, Bloomington, Ind., police arrested Hendershot on Saturday night and booked him into the Monroe County Jail on preliminary charges of felony residential entry and three misdemeanors: domestic battery, criminal mischief and criminal conversion.

Police say the 20-year-old redshirt sophomore entered an ex-girlfriend’s apartment without permission to accuse her of infidelity and took her cellphone to check for calls and texts.

According to a release from the Bloomington Police Department, the 6-foot-4, 255-pound Hendershot “grabbed her by the neck and shoved her against the wall” when she attempted to retrieve the phone.

Hendershot was later arrested at his residence after the woman called 911.

Hendershot earned All-Big Ten honors in 2019 after setting Hoosiers season records for a tight end with 52 receptions and 622 yards. He scored four touchdowns.

He played in 28 games from 2017-19, catching 67 passes for 785 yards and six touchdowns.
