Michigan wide receiver Giles Jackson announced Monday that he has entered the transfer after playing two seasons for the Wolverines.

It was believed Jackson would receive a bigger role in 2021 but he is now seeking more playing time at his next destination.

“After many long nights of deep thought, I have decided to enter my name into the transfer portal,” Jackson wrote on Instagram before giving thanks to coaches, teammates and others at the school.

Jackson caught 24 passes for 309 yards and one touchdown in 18 games over the past two seasons. He also rushed for one score.

Jackson was making an impact as a kick returner with two touchdowns and a 26.4 average on 37 returns in his two campaigns.

He is from Antioch, Calif., not far from Oakland, so a transfer to a West Coast school is a possible alternative. Due to the 2020 “free year” because of the coronavirus pandemic, Jackson has three seasons of eligibility remaining.

According to multiple Detroit-area publications, Jackson is the seventh player to enter the transfer portal since mid-January.
