No. 11 Minnesota won’t know if it will have the services of quarterback Tanner Morgan for Saturday’s game at Northwestern until late in the week.

Morgan is in concussion protocol, according to coach P.J. Fleck, stemming from a head injury suffered during last Saturday’s 23-19 loss to Iowa.

Fleck said on his weekly radio show that Morgan is making progress but he has no firm read on whether or not the sophomore will be available.

“Whenever our athletic trainers tell me he’s cleared, then he’ll be cleared,” Fleck said.

If Morgan is unavailable, either one of true freshmen, Jacob Clark or Cole Kramer, would be called on. Kramer finished up when Morgan departed in the final minutes and tossed an interception that sealed the win for the Hawkeyes.

Morgan has completed 68.1 percent of his passes for 2,468 yards and 22 touchdowns against only four interceptions this season.

The Golden Gophers are 9-1.
