Northwestern has halted workouts after a football player tested positive for COVID-19, according to multiple reports.

The school indicated it will not resume workouts prior to Wednesday. The team’s most recent workout was Friday.

“Medical staff will implement the university’s rigorous contact tracing and quarantine protocols to protect the health and safety of student-athletes, coaches and staff,” Northwestern said in a statement.

Northwestern is the sixth known Big Ten school to pause workouts due to the coronavirus, joining Indiana, Maryland, Michigan State, Ohio State and Rutgers.

Michigan State and Rutgers both have put their squads under 14-day quarantines. Michigan State announced its actions on July 24, while Rutgers took similar measures the following day.
