Matthew Baldwin, a redshirt freshman quarterback for the Ohio State Buckeyes, said Thursday he’s entering the transfer portal.

Baldwin thanked the staff and coaches in a Twitter post announcing his decision, saying he had made the decision with his family after a tough spring.

Baldwin had been competing with Justin Fields, a transfer from Georgia, but all signs point to Fields winning the job after spring practice, which ended last week.

Fellow Buckeyes QB Tate Martell previously transferred to Miami following the addition of Fields.

Ohio State plans to add another quarterback before the season begins, according to multiple reports.

Chris Chugunov, who transferred from West Virginia, is the Buckeyes’ only other scholarship QB currently on the roster.
