GAME BREAKDOWN

KEY MATCHUP: It is hard to pick one thing that qualifies as a key matchup for Rutgers, which ranks so low in FBS in so many categories. But this week, their No. 92 pass efficiency defense faces an offense that is 123rd in the country passing the ball. Can the RU secondary and defense come up with a big effort that makes things easier on the freshman QB and the offense? Or does Maryland keep the ball on the ground against a defense that has yielded 18 runs of 20-plus, 11 of 30-plus and nine of 40-plus yards in the first six games?

DRAFT SLANT

–LB Trevor Morris has shaken off a dislocated elbow suffered in camp and is on pace for his third straight 100-tackle season. Last season, his 118 tackles were second in the Big Ten. This season, he has 52 through six games including 4.5 for loss and a sack. He also has four pass breakups and four quarterback hits, leading Rutgers with seven tackles in the loss to Illinois.

ROSTER REPORT:

–WR Bo Melton notched career highs in catches (six) and yards (70) in the Illinois loss.

–DE Kevin Wilkins had two tackles for loss, giving him 15.5 in his Rutgers career.
