Michael Irvin II made his transfer from Miami to Florida Atlantic official on Tuesday.

The son of Hall of Fame wide receiver Michael Irvin, Irvin II is entering his final season of eligibility.

“I have had a riddled college football career so far, which is why I have made this decision very carefully,” Irvin II, a tight end, wrote in a statement shared via Twitter. “With that being said, I have learned a lot and would not change my experience and the relationships I have made throughout the process. I’m thankful for everything that I have been able to do. After a number of discussions with my family, we believe that I have been granted an opportunity that I can’t pass up. I have decided I will spend my last year playing college football as an FAU Owl.”

A three-star prospect in 2016, Irvin had two catches last season and missed the 2018 season due to a knee injury.

Willie Taggart replaced Lane Kiffin as head coach at FAU and had recruited Irvin II in 2016.

The Owls lost tight end Harrison Bryant, the John Mackey Award winner as the nation’s top tight end last season, to the NFL. He was drafted in the fourth round by the Cleveland Browns.
