Middle Tennessee’s leading tackler Reed Blankenship will miss the rest of the season with an ankle injury.

The junior safety sustained the injury in the third quarter of the Blue Raiders’ 33-30 loss at North Texas last Saturday.

“It’s a tough loss anytime you lose a player to injury,” coach Rick Stockstill said Thursday. “You hate to see it, because you know how much these guys invest in this game.”

Blankenship leads the Blue Raiders with 58 tackles in seven games, including a season-high 13 stops against Florida Atlantic on Oct. 12. He has two interceptions and one fumble recovery.

He earned All-Conference USA first-team honors in 2018.

Middle Tennessee (2-5, 1-2 CUSA) hosts Florida International (4-3, 2-2) on Saturday.
