Southern Miss junior wide receiver Quez Watkins will miss the first two games of the 2019 season, head coach Jay Hopson announced this week.
Hopson declined to comment on why Watkins will miss the games.
Watkins was named to the All-Conference USA first team last season. He led Southern Miss in receptions (72), receiving yards (889) and touchdowns (nine).
In January, Hopson withdrew from Southern Miss and enrolled in a junior college to get his academics back on track. He returned to the University in June.
The Eagles open the 2019 season against FCS opponent Alcorn State on Saturday before going on the road to play Mississippi State.
