University of Southern California quarterback Kedon Slovis will return from a concussion that cost him one start, and he will be back in the lineup when the Trojans travel to face No. 9 Notre Dame this Saturday.

USC head coach Clay Helton revealed after the team’s Tuesday evening practice that the freshman was medically cleared to return.

“He does not look out of form to me,” Helton said of Slovis’ practice performance. “He looks really good. He came out today and I thought was very decisive with his decision-making, looked really good. Hopefully that continues and carries into South Bend.”

Slovis has completed 77.9 percent of his passes for 732 yards this season, with five touchdown passes and four interceptions. He engineered the Trojans’ 45-20 upset win over Stanford on Sept. 7, completing 28 of 33 passes for 377 yards and three scoring passes.

The Trojans have already been forced to start three quarterbacks this season.

Returning starter JT Daniels sustained a season-ending ACL injury and a meniscus tear in his knee on Aug. 31 in the season opener against Fresno State. Slovis filled in admirably but was sidelined with a concussion early in USC’s win over then-No. 10 Utah on Sept. 20.

Third-stringer Matt Fink completed 21 of 30 passes for 351 yards, three touchdowns and an interception in leading USC to the upset of the Utes, but he threw three interceptions the following week in a loss at then-No. 17 Washington.
