Alabama holds the No. 1 spot for the fifth week in a row and the top seven remain unchanged in the latest Associated Press Top 25 poll released Sunday.
The Crimson Tide received all 62 first-place votes to be the unanimous choice for the third straight week. Alabama (9-0) routed LSU 55-17 on Saturday.
Notre Dame (10-0) is second, followed by Ohio State (5-0), Clemson (9-1) and Texas A&M (7-1) to round out the top five. Florida (8-1) and No. 7 Cincinnati (8-0) also held their spots.
BYU lost 22-17 to Coastal Carolina on Saturday to prompt some movement. The Cougars fell from No. 8 to No. 14 while the Chanticleers moved up three spots from No. 14 to No. 11.
Indiana climbed two spots to No. 8, Miami remained at No. 9 and Iowa State moved up two spots to No. 10 after routing West Virginia 42-6.
Idle Georgia dropped a spot to No. 12 and Oklahoma remained at No. 13.
Marshall was ranked 15th last week but fell out of the rankings after being whipped 20-0 by Rice.
Other teams that fell out of the rankings were Oklahoma State (No. 19), Oregon (No. 21) and Washington (No. 23).
New entrants were North Carolina (No. 20), Colorado (No. 21), Texas (No. 23) and Buffalo (No. 24).
The appearance in the poll is Buffalo’s first in school history. The Bulls moved in despite having their Saturday game against Ohio University called off due to COVID-19 issues in the Bobcats’ program.
Buffalo on Friday was about 2 1/2 hours into the approximately 390-mile bus ride to Athens, Ohio when it learned of the cancelation. The Bulls then stopped at a rest stop in Mentor, Ohio — located just east of Cleveland — and turned the bus around on Interstate 90 to head back to Buffalo.
Colorado is in the rankings for the first time this season under first-year coach Karl Dorrell.
