STATE COLLEGE, Pa. — Heisman Trophy hopeful Saquon Barkley returned the opening kickoff for a touchdown and No. 4 Penn State built a 28-0 first-quarter lead en route to a 45-14 victory over Indiana on Saturday afternoon.

DaeSean Hamilton also caught three touchdown passes — two from quarterback Trace McSorley and another from Barkley — as the Lions improved to 5-0 for the first time since 2008.

Hamilton had nine receptions to raise his career total to 181, a school record. Deon Butler, who played at Penn State from 2005-08, held the previous mark (179).

McSorley went 23 for 36 for 315 yards and two touchdowns. He was sacked five times and intercepted once.

Barkley, who entered the game leading the FBS in all-purpose yards per game (253.3), finished with 205. He rushed for just 56 yards on 20 carries but contributed 51 on four receptions, in addition to his kickoff return.

Indiana fell to 2-2.

No. 7 Georgia 41, Tennessee 0

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Seventh-ranked Georgia continues to assert itself as a team to watch in the SEC.

The Bulldogs (5-0, 2-0 SEC) dominated the game in every way possible, churning up 380 yards of offense while holding Tennessee to just 142 and forcing four turnovers (two interceptions and two fumble recoveries).

The loss marked the first time the Volunteers (3-2, 0-2) have been shut out since 1994.

Quarterback Jake Fromm accounted for three of Georgia’s touchdowns, rushing for two and throwing for another score.

Graduate transfer quarterback Thomas Sirk kept the Pirates (1-4, 1-1) in it for a half, as ECU trailed 31-24 at the break. Sirk rushed for 75 yards on 11 carries in the first half but was held to 12 yards on six carries in the second.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Luke Del Rio regained the starting quarterback job this week, but his season is now over after he broke his left collarbone.

Gators coach Jim McElwain said Del Rio will undergo season-ending surgery on Monday.
