GAME BREAKDOWN

KEY MATCHUP: Notre Dame rushing offense vs. Florida State rushing defense. The Seminoles were gashed for 59 points by the Clemson Tigers two weeks ago. Then, last week, they surrendered 47 points against the North Carolina State Wolfpack. Notre Dame can put up similar numbers if its ground game controls the clock and finishes scoring drives, which it has done well since Dexter Williams moved into the role of primary back.

DRAFT SLANT: WR Miles Boykin has not shied from a leadership role, and scouts might be starting to take notice. Boykin leads the Fighting Irish with 40 catches for 624 yards and seven touchdowns in nine games. Other Fighting Irish receivers have had success in the NFL. What is to stop Boykin from maintaining the trend?

ROSTER REPORT:

–LB Drue Tranquill reported no issues after coming back from injury last week against Northwestern, and he expects to play a full workload this weekend against Florida State.

–RB Jafar Armstrong tweaked his ankle in last week’s win against Northwestern and was limited to four carries. Fighting Irish coach Brian Kelly is hopeful that he will be able to shake off the injury this week against the Seminoles.

–PK Justin Yoon has a nagging groin injury that could limit his availability on kickoff attempts. Yoon is expected to be available for field goal attempts at the least.
