Buffalo punter Evan Finegan was scheduled to undergo surgery Sunday after suffering a broken leg in Saturday night’s 45-13 loss at Penn State.

The injury occurred as Finegan attempted to punt on a fourth-and-13 play from his own 11-yard line in the third quarter. He caught the snap and the Nittany Lions’ Journey Brown jumped to try to block the punt and ran into Finegan’s right kicking leg.

Finegan clutched his leg after falling to the ground and was carted off.

“I ask you to keep me in your prayers as I receive surgery on my broken fibula and tibia today,” Finegan tweeted Sunday morning. “The medical staff from Penn State and UB have done an incredible job taking care of me. I am fortunate to be in such great hands.”

Finegan, a redshirt sophomore from Michigan, set a single-season school record in 2018, averaging 41.8 yards per punt.
