Kent State receiver Antwan Dixon was granted a sixth season of eligibility by the NCAA, the school announced Wednesday.

Dixon, 23, missed the 2016 and 2017 season due to a blood disorder called aplastic anemia. The autoimmune disease prevents the body from producing a sufficient amount of blood cells.

Dixon received a bone marrow transplant from his father, Anthony, and returned to play in 2018. He had 52 catches for 532 yards and two touchdowns that season.

Last season, the 5-foot-8, 178-pound Dixon caught 34 passes for 333 yards and one touchdown in 13 games.

“I am really excited about the outcome for Antwan,” Golden Flashes coach Sean Lewis said in a news release. “He was one of the first individuals we learned about when we arrived at Kent State (before the 2018 season) and to have him and his energy for another season is great. I am excited to see what the future holds for him and the rest of the team this fall!”
