Toledo head coach Jason Candle said Wednesday he is asymptomatic after testing positive for COVID-19.

“Fortunately, I have not experienced any symptoms,” he wrote on Twitter. “I appreciate all the doctors and medical workers who are on the front lines battling the virus. I look forward to returning to the team after meeting safety guidelines. Go Rockets!”

Candle, 40, has been at Toledo since 2009 and was promoted to head coach in 2016.

The Rockets are 34-19 under his leadership with four bowl appearances. Toledo won one of those four appearances at the 2015 Boca Raton Bowl. He was the Mid-American Conference Coach of the Year in 2017.

The Rockets, who finished 6-6 in 2019, are scheduled to open the 2020 season on Sept. 5 at Tulsa.
