Boise State defensive back Robert Lewis, a redshirt junior, was arrested by Boise police early Friday morning on suspicion of driving under the influence.

Lewis was booked into Ada County Jail at 3:25 a.m. The school released a statement on Friday saying it is aware of the situation involving the 22-year-old and “will handle it according to department policy.”

A first-time misdemeanor DUI conviction could be punishable by up to six months in county jail and a $1,000 fine.

According to an incident report from the Boise Police Department, Lewis was pulled over after failing to stop for a red light at 2:10 a.m. He was given a blood alcohol test, which measured Lewis’ blood-alcohol content at 0.104. The legal limit in Idaho is 0.08.

Jail records indicate Lewis was released on bail later Friday morning and was due to appear in court Friday afternoon. T

Lewis, a Los Angeles native, played in 10 games last season as a redshirt sophomore, making two tackles.

Boise State is in the middle of spring practices and has one scheduled for Friday afternoon.
