Boise State true freshman quarterback Hank Bachmeier exited Saturday’s game against Hawaii in the second quarter with an apparent left hip injury.

Bachmeier was injured while scrambling when he was hit hard by Rainbow Warriors linebacker Kana’i Picanco. Bachmeier fumbled, and the ball was recovered by Hawaii defensive end Manly Williams.

A short time later, Bachmeier tried to get up on the sideline and fell to the ground. He was soon helped off the field to be examined.

Bachmeier was seen out of his uniform after halftime, signaling an end to his night. He was 3 of 9 for 58 yards and a touchdown before leaving.

Sophomore Chase Cord took over as quarterback for the No. 14 Broncos. He threw a 33-yard touchdown pass to Khalil Shakir later in the quarter to give Boise State a 24-7 lead.
