Fordham has canceled the first three games of its season, including its scheduled Sept. 12 football game at Hawaii, multiple outlets reported Monday.

According to the Patriot League’s June 22 guidance plan for fall competition amid the coronavirus pandemic, “No Patriot League teams will fly to competitions, and with rare exceptions, regular-season competition will exclude overnight travel.”

Fordham’s campus is in the Bronx in New York City and the Rams were scheduled to fly from Newark, N.J., to Honolulu.

According to reports, Fordham has also canceled its scheduled Aug. 29 season opener against Stony Brook and its Sept. 5 game scheduled against Bryant. Both of those were to be home games for Fordham.

As of late Monday afternoon, the schedule on the Fordham football official website still has all three games listed as though they have not been canceled. But multiple outlets reported a Fordham spokesperson confirming all three games being canceled. The Honolulu Star Advertiser reported a Fordham spokesperson said the school will announce later this week whether it will cancel the entire season or move it to the spring.

Hawaii athletic director David Matlin said the Rainbow Warriors are seeking a replacement opponent. Hawaii is slated to open the season on Aug. 28 at Arizona. Its home opener is Sept. 5 against UCLA.
