GAME BREAKDOWN

KEY MATCHUP: Colorado has never had a running back reach 1,000 yards in the same year that a wide receiver hauled in 1,000 yards of his own. Travon McMillian and Laviska Shenault Jr. can become the first tandem to do so when the Buffs take on California.

McMillian needs 49 yards to reach the 1,000-yard plateau for the second time in his career and first since the Virginia Tech transfer’s freshman year. California won’t be easy to run on. The Golden Bears run defense ranks fourth in the Pac-12 in yards per game allowed (134.8) and has given up the fewest rushing touchdowns (10) in the conference.

Shenault looks to pick up the 54 receiving yards he needs for 1,000 against a California secondary that’s tops in the Pac-12 with 14 interceptions and boasts a conference-best 183.3 yards per game average.

DRAFT SLANT

–ILB Drew Lewis will play his final regular season game when Colorado takes the field against California. The senior surely wants to atone for his one-tackle performance against Utah. Lewis has established himself as a team leader with 54 tackles on the year and 161 for his career.

ROSTER REPORT:

–S Evan Worthington remains in concussion protocol, following a head injury sustained against Oregon State. If he can’t go, the senior will close out his career by missing the last four games. Worthington finished third on the team with 87 tackles a year ago and has 124 career tackles in two seasons.
