PLAYERS TO WATCH

–WR Laviska Shenault Jr. leads the nation with 38 receptions (9.5 per game) and 145.3 yards per game. The sophomore has caught one touchdown in all four contests and crossed the plain with a pair of rushing scores taken from directly under center.

–RB Travon McMillian has taken over as the Buffs No. 1 option out of the backfield. The Virginia Tech transfer has 392 yards on the year to go along with four touchdowns. The senior has eclipsed the 100-yard mark in consecutive games and in all but one of the Colorado’s four tilts.

–LB Nate Landman leads the Buffs with 43 tackles, 18 more than the next closest teammate Rick Gamboa. The sophomore is the making the most of his playing time adding a pair of interceptions and a sack.

–DE Mustafa Johnson added another tackle-for-loss against UCLA. The sophomore now has seven for the season and one in every game, so far. The Modesto Junior College transfer has 17 tackles in his debut campaign in Boulder.

SERIES HISTORY: Arizona State leads Colorado, 8-1. Colorado’s lone victory came in 2016, the last time the Sun Devils traveled to Boulder’s Folsom Field. Each game in this series has ultimately proven one-sided and settled by an average margin of 24.4 points — the closest contest being last year’s 11-point Arizona State triumph.

QUOTE TO NOTE: “Shhhhh … we have to keep that real quiet. Only people in this room know we’re ranked. We have no idea. We’re just going to act like we’re not ranked and keep putting in the same work we’re been putting in. It doesn’t get us to our end goal.” — Junior quarterback Steven Montez on the Buffs’ No. 21 ranking in the AP Top 25.
