GAME BREAKDOWN

KEY MATCHUP: The defensive stats are decidedly in Utah’s favor against archrival BYU, and that should lead to a positive result for the Utes in this week’s Holy War. Utah’s defense, rated No. 14 nationally (allowing only 312.1 yards a game) goes against a BYU offense that is No. 108 (averaging only 354.3 yards a game). The Utes are No. 5 in the nation in rushing defense, allowing only 95.6 yards per game while BYU’s running game is struggling at No. 88 with only 155.1 yards per game.

DRAFT SLANT

–LB Chase Hansen, a converted strong safety, was ejected for targeting in the first quarter of last week’s game at Colorado. He has 88 tackles this season, including 19 for loss. His 1.73 tackles for loss a game ranks fifth nationally.

ROSTER REPORT:

–QB Tyler Huntley is out for the rest of the regular season because of a broken collarbone suffered two weeks ago at ASU. Utah coach Kyle Whittingham said the possibility exists that Huntley could return in time for a bowl game.

–RB Zack Moss (knee) is lost for the season after suffering the injury in a freak accident at home. He told coaches his knee locked on him when he climbed into bed.
