Alabama senior linebacker Joshua McMillon will require surgery on his injured right knee, Crimson Tide coach Nick Saban said Monday.

Saban said McMillon would be sidelined for an “indefinite period” but stopped short of saying the ailment was season-ending. A report from AL.com on Sunday indicated McMillon might miss the entire 2020 season.

“We have a great medical staff here and he will have the full support of everyone in the organization as he goes through the rehab process,” Saban said in a statement. “We are confident Josh will make a full recovery.”

McMillion was injured during a scrimmage on Saturday.

McMillion had 14 tackles — including one for loss — in 10 games last season. He was projected to be a starting inside linebacker this season next to star Dylan Moses.

Saban also confirmed that freshman running back Trey Sanders will undergo foot surgery. The highly regarded Sanders was hurt during a practice last Thursday.

Alabama opens up against Duke on Aug. 31 in Atlanta.
