No. 2 Alabama and No. 3 Georgia was the marquee matchup in college football last Saturday.

In a battle of team strengths — the Crimson Tide, which entered the game with the nation’s top-ranked offense, vs. the Bulldogs, which owned the nation’s best defense — it was Nick Saban’s bunch that emerged with an impressive 41-24 victory.

Due to its 17-point win over the Dawgs, Bama is Lindy’s Team of the Week.

Junior quarterback Mac Jones lit up the vaunted Georgia defense to the tune of 417 passing yards and four touchdowns. Senior tailback Najee Harris had 31 carries for 152 yards and a score on the ground.

Dynamic wideouts Jaylen Waddle, a junior, and DeVonta Smith, a senior, also had monster games. Smith had 11 catches for 167 yards and two touchdowns, all team highs. Waddle had six catches for 161 yards and a score.

Defensively, Alabama picked off Georgia quarterback Stetson Bennett three times and recorded two sacks. Sophomore defensive back DeMarcco Hellams had a team-high 11 tackles and a pass defended. Senior linebacker Dylan Moses had 10 tackles and a sack.

Sophomore kicker Will Richard went 2-for-2 on field goal attempts, including a momentum-shifting 52-yarder right before the halftime.

Saban, who almost didn’t coach due to a false Coronavirus test, was cleared to coach the team prior to the game.
