Muffed Punt, Last Gasp Catch Win for the Tide

This was a game that Alabama just could not lose. Without a win, the Crimson Tide had no chance to still be among teams with a CFP final four chance.

It was a game that Auburn just could not win. The Tigers already had five losses and were a 13-point underdog.

But with a little over four minutes left in the game, this one was near being a loss for the Tide. Trailing 24-20, having to punt to the Tigers on fourth down, Auburn could pretty much lock up the win by making one just first down, then running out the clock.

Alabama needed the ball. It needed a miracle.

The miracle came, in the form of an unforced error, a muffed punt by the Auburn returner, recovered by Alabama on the Auburn 31-yard line. The Tide had been given one more chance.

Bama took advantage of the gift. On fourth down, facing its last offensive snap, receiver Isaiah Bond hauled in a touchdown pass in the end zone from quarterback Jalen Milroe, giving the Tide a 27-24 win, keeping its CFP hopes alive.

The game-winning reception has been chosen as the U.S. Farm-Raised Catfish “Catch of the Week.”

For the game, Bond caught five passes for 75 yards, including the winning reception. Milroe completed 16 of 24 throws for 259 yards and two scores.

Remember … for the tailgate tent or the pre-game party, U. S. Farm-Raised Catfish is always “the winning catch.”

The Catfish Institute, or TCI, was formed in 1986 by catfish farmers and feed manufacturers to raise consumer awareness of the positive qualities of U.S. Farm-Raised Catfish. Since its formation, U.S. per capita consumption has more than doubled.

U.S. Farm-Raised Catfish is a sustainable and environmentally friendly seafood product. The National Audubon Society, Monterey Bay Aquarium, and Environmental Defense all recommend U.S. Farm-Raised Catfish as a safe environmental choice. To find out more, visit www.uscatfish.com.
