Arkansas fired head coach Chad Morris after just 22 games, according to published reports on Sunday morning.
The move comes on the heels of a 45-19 home loss to Western Kentucky on Saturday, the 18th defeat since Morris took over for the Razorbacks in December 2017.
Morris, who replaced Bret Bielema, will be owed approximately $10 million of the six-year, $21 million contract he signed with Arkansas. He previously coached at SMU and now boasts an 18-40 career record.
Tight ends coach/special teams coordinator Barry Lunney Jr., who played quarterback at Arkansas and is in his seventh season with the team as a coach, is expected to be named the interim coach.
Under Morris, the Razorbacks opened the season 2-1, but have dropped seven straight since then. The team went 0-14 in SEC play during his tenure.
