The annual SEC clash between Florida and Georgia will continue to be played in Jacksonville, Fla., through at least 2023, the city’s mayor announced Friday.

The contract between the schools was scheduled to expire after the 2021 game, but Mayor Lenny Curry announced on Twitter that Jacksonville extended the series by two years, with an option through the 2025 game.

The game has been played in Jacksonville since 1933, with No. 7 Florida and No. 10 Georgia set to meet Nov. 2 in the latest edition.

“We look forward to the continuation of one of the greatest college football traditions in the country – a border states battle between Georgia and Florida,” Georgia athletic director Greg McGarity said.

“The City of Jacksonville has once again demonstrated its commitment to this game through significant financial considerations to each school.”
