Quarterback Joey Gatewood reportedly will visit Kentucky this weekend as the former Auburn backup explores his transfer options.

Kentucky Sports Radio and 247Sports both confirmed that Gatewood will be in Lexington, Ky., this Saturday night when the Wildcats host Tennessee.

Gatewood, a redshirt freshman, announced he was entering the NCAA transfer portal on Oct. 30.

He lost a preseason battle with true freshman Bo Nix and played sparingly for the Tigers this season, completing 5 of 7 passes for 54 yards and two touchdowns and rushing 29 times for 148 yards and three scores.

Gatewood reportedly also is considering LSU, Florida and Mississippi State. He most likely would have to sit out the 2020 season under NCAA transfer rules.

A four-star recruit from Jacksonville, Fla., Gatewood was rated as the No. 9 player at any position in the state of Florida and the No. 49 overall recruit in the Class of 2018 by the 247Sports composite.
