Chad Morris, who was fired as Arkansas’ head coach in November during his second season, landed as the offensive coordinator at Auburn on Tuesday.

He replaces Kenny Dillingham, who left Monday for the same role on Mike Norvell’s new staff at Florida State.

Morris, 51, went 4-18 at Arkansas but previously established himself as a top offensive coach, including serving as Clemson’s coordinator from 2011-14 and the head coach at SMU from 2015-17.

“I’m super excited to have Chad Morris join our staff at Auburn,” head coach Gus Malzahn said in a statement. “He’s a tremendous offensive mind who has had success with several top-ranked offenses during his time in the college ranks. I’ve known Chad for almost 20 years and he is a tireless worker and a perfectionist.”

Auburn is set to begin practices next week for the Outback Bowl matchup against Minnesota on New Year’s Day in Tampa.
