Former LSU quarterback TJ Finley has decided to transfer to Auburn, according to published reports on Monday.

Finley reportedly chose the Tigers over Penn State, Houston and Alabama.

“It was the best situation for me as a quarterback,” Finley told Auburn Undercover and 247Sports.

Finley chose to depart LSU after spring drills ended with him as No. 3 on the depth chart. He entered the transfer portal earlier this month.

The 6-foot-6 Finley started five games last season as a true freshman and passed for 941 yards, five touchdowns and five interceptions. LSU went 2-3 in his starts.

Auburn returns junior Bo Nix, who passed for 4,957 yards, 28 touchdowns and 13 interceptions in two seasons as a starter.

Auburn also has a new head coach in Bryan Harsin and offensive coordinator in Mike Bobo, so there may be more opportunity for competition with a new staff dissecting everything.

“I love them,” Finley said of Harsin and Bobo. “They’re fired-up guys. Guys that want to win and will do anything to win. I like their system. I knew what to expect from the coaches recruiting me, the things they say. I know what they say when they really want me and what they say when they really just want to add depth. The new coaching staff at Auburn is looking to establish what they want to bring to the SEC.”
